Toronto – On November 29th, Aramark Canada is hosting its annual Chefs’ Cup Competition at Centennial College. The competition involves eight of Aramark Canada’s top chefs who are competing to move on and represent Aramark Canada in the company’s International Chefs’ Cup competition on April 17,  2023 in Santiago, Chile.

This year’s event brings together Centennial College’s culinary students, faculty, and staff to engage with Aramark’s leading culinary talent from across the country as they showcase food preparation skills and techniques.  This competition is about celebrating chefs, building culinary communities and partnerships.

“While only one will advance to the international competition, all of the competitors are winners,” said Andy Siklos, President of Aramark Canada. “This competition is thorough and those selected to participate in this event represent the best of the best culinarians that we have across the country, and both the Chefs and the locations that they represent can be proud.”

The eight Aramark Chefs who will be stirring up passion, talent and determination, battling it out to take the Cup home, include: Adrian Salalac, representing the Aramark’s Culinary Innovation Centre; Brett Howson - Bishop Strachan School; Cyruss Castañeda - Banque Nationale; Eric Jacobs – Rogers Communications; Paul Maniaci - University of Calgary; Richard Perks - Country Day School; Roel Alcantara - Lakehead University; and Ryan Kochen - Bayview Glen School.

As the competition date approaches, Chef Nicolo Meli, Aramark’s Sr. Director of Culinary and Chef Garnier Quain, Sr. Manager Culinary Systems and Standards, are working with the team at Centennial College to set the stage for this exciting event.

"This competition is all encompassing. We judge each recipe not only on appearance and flavor, but on how safe the teams prepare the ingredients," Meli said. “Safety is a top priority at Aramark and our Chefs are expected to display outstanding food safety practices throughout the competition.”
